Biography and Experience
Thank you for visiting my webpage. As an attorney and in life, I make it a point to get to know the people I come in contact with. I would like to let you get to know me a little better as you make the important decision on an attorney that fits your needs.
I was raised in the small town of LaFayette, Georgia, and I am one of three children of Kenneth and Doris Maples. I attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama and obtained a degree in criminal justice. It was at Jacksonville State where I met my excellent wife, Emily, and we have been together ever since. Emily and I now reside in Prairieville, Louisiana, with our beautiful baby Johannah and our three dogs: Stanley, Scout and Jake.
My first career I worked as a parole officer in Atlanta, Georgia. That experience gave me a passion for the justice system and a desire to impact the lives of people. As an officer, I realized that many good people get caught up in difficult situations and often need legal assistance to get life back on the right track.
I had aspired for several years to attend law school, but it was the continued encouragement of Emily and the perfect timing of God that gave me the opportunity in 2009.
After being accepted to multiple schools and visiting many of those schools, Emily and I traveled to the LSU Law Center. Immediately, we both felt a connection to the school, the Louisiana people and the culture. We have made Louisiana our home ever since. I graduated law school from LSU and passed the bar in 2012.
Since graduation, I have worked in St. John Parish as an Assistant District Attorney, Ascension Parish as an Assistant District Attorney and started the Maples Law Office, LLC. It was in St. John where I met my mentor and friend the late Tom Daley. Mr. Daley instilled in me a dedication to always make time to listen to everyone no matter how small or large the topic of conversation. As a prosecutor in St. John, I focused on probation revocations, felony drug prosecutions and the prosecution of violent offenses including murder. I started a community service program, a pre-trial diversion program and an employment initiative for ex-offenders.
After Mr. Daley passed, I obtained employment with the Ascension Parish District Attorney's Office. Ascension Parish is where Emily and I live and the location of my civil practice. I started The Maples Law Office, LLC to focus on Estate Planning, Family Law and Personal Injury cases. I have experienced firsthand the great number of people that need quality legal advice in these practice areas. Whether you are planning for the future and need a will prepared, struggling with the present and need counsel on how to proceed in Divorce or you are injured due to the negligence of another, I would like to help. I strive daily to provide diligent, affordable representation. Please contact me to schedule a telephone or in person meeting to discuss your legal questions.
